LUXURY COLLECTION

Most optical stores send you elsewhere for your eye exam — or your optometrist sends you elsewhere for frames. At Premier Optical, both work together in the same clinic.

Your optometrist performs your comprehensive eye exam, diagnoses conditions, and writes your prescription. Your optician then helps you choose frames, measures your fitting, and ensures your lenses are crafted to your exact specifications.

No referrals. No transferring records. No second trip across town. Your eye doctor and your eyewear team — same visit.

Our Brands

Our Optical Services & Lens Technology

Premier Optical is a full-service optical centre — not just a dispensary. Our in-house lab cuts, coats, and fits lenses on-site with precision optics from Nikon, Hoya, Zeiss, and Essilor.

We specialize in progressive lenses, blue light filtering, anti-glare coatings, night driving lenses, computer glasses, and astigmatism-corrected prescriptions. Select single-vision lenses can be finished in our 1-hour lab — same visit.

Comprehensive

Eye Exams in Waterloo

A prescription check is only one part of an eye exam. Our optometrists evaluate your complete ocular health — screening for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy before symptoms appear.

Every eye exam includes:

  • Visual acuity and refraction testing
  • Intraocular pressure measurement (glaucoma screening)
  • Retinal and optic nerve health evaluation
  • Digital eye strain evaluation for screen-heavy lifestyles
  • Personalized recommendations for lenses, frames, or contacts

Duration: approximately 30–45 minutes. Same-day eyewear selection available after your exam — including 1-hour lens service for qualifying prescriptions.

FAQ

WhatCan I get an eye exam and new glasses the same day?

Yes. Book a comprehensive eye exam at our Waterloo optical clinic, select your frames after, and if your prescription qualifies for our 1-hour lab, you leave wearing finished glasses. Same visit, same day.

How often should I get an eye exam?

Adults 20–64: every 1–2 years. Children: first exam by 6–9 months, then age 3, then annually in school. Adults 65+: annually. Our optometrists adjust this based on your personal health history and risk factors.

Do you accept my insurance?

We direct bill most major Ontario providers — Sun Life, Manulife, Great-West Life, Green Shield, Blue Cross, Desjardins — plus many university student plans. Bring your card and we handle the paperwork.

What's the difference between your optometrist and optician?

Our optometrist is a licensed eye doctor who examines your eyes, diagnoses conditions, and prescribes corrective lenses. Our optician fits your frames, measures your lenses, and provides ongoing adjustments. Both work in the same location — your exam and eyewear happen in one visit.

Do you offer kids' eye exams?

Yes. We provide comprehensive eye exams for children of all ages and carry durable kids' frames from db4k, Nano, and Puma. Every kids' purchase includes free ongoing adjustments — so frames stay secure as they grow.

What if I already have a prescription from another eye doctor?

You can purchase eyewear with a current external prescription. However, we recommend a comprehensive exam to verify accuracy and screen for eye health conditions — especially if your last exam was more than two years ago.
